05.28.14 Marc Elrich has friends everywhere (but wait: there’s irony)
Just look at these endorsements (from marcelrich.com):
With the Washington Post added yesterday, Marc Elrich has support across the pro-business, pro-enviornment divide of Montgomery County politics. This is quite an accomplishment for someone the Post wouldn’t so much as mention eight years ago, because he was deemed too radical.
What’s ironic is that practically the only people who don’t seem to be able to work with Marc are his council colleagues. So, we have to get their attention in this election.
- It’s not sufficient to reelect Marc.
- We need to reelect him with big numbers.
- And, we need to elect good partners, like Beth Daly to increase his ability to set the council agenda. (Beth has promised to advocate Marc as council president, a post that has skipped him for eight years.)
Marc Elrich is a respected leader with broad support. Voters need to bring the rest of the county council on board.
Necessary Disclaimer: I have supported Marc Elrich’s campaigns in a variety of ways over a long period of time. Nonetheless, I am not part of this year’s campaign and they did not review this post before publishing.

You know I am supporting some of the other incumbents too for various reason but I regret that they have never been willing to give Marc the respect he deserves. He was the largest vote-getter four years ago but they won’t even let him chair a committee. They support his ideas, like raising the minimum wage and BRT, but they won’t let him near the Council presidency.

I’m glad I posted this. I think it may be time for an organized campaign to pressure the rest of the council about this.
